Important: please read before setting your GPS: Please only navigate using the Google Maps pin for our main entrance (Gate 1). Do not use the “Egerton Lodge” or “River House” map locations as your final destination. Because we are situated right on the riverbank, standard navigation systems will get confused and direct you to the completely opposite side of the river, resulting in an unavoidable 1.5-hour detour.
Drive from Hopetown towards Kimberley on the N12. About 20km out of Hopetown, turn right onto a broad dirt road signposted “Witput”.
Drive from Kimberley towards Cape Town on the N12. About 97km out of Kimberley, turn left onto a broad dirt road signposted “Witput” (note: it is a small sign!).
2km after turning off the N12, you will cross a railway line. A further 6km down, turn right (look out for old, faded signs at the turn).
Drive for another 6km and you will see the entrance to Egerton Farm on your right. Before the sign appears, you will notice a T-junction signpost. At night, there are reflective markers on the Egerton sign to guide you.
Take exit 186 for N8/M19 toward Kimberley and continue on the N8.
At Petrusburg, turn left off the N8 and join the R48 towards Koffiefontein.
Just before reaching Koffiefontein, cross the single-lane bridge to a T-junction. Turn left here, and then take your next immediate right to continue on the R48 to Luckhoff.
About 1km after passing the Luckhoff entrance on your left, take the dirt road to your right marked S128.
The dirt road will shortly fork; ensure you keep left. Stay on this road without turning for 38km.
After about 38km of dirt road, you will reach a loose 4-way crossing with the Wanda Police Station at the top right corner. Take a left here.
Continue for a further 7.5km to a T-junction at a farm called Ramah. Turn right here.
Proceed for approximately 5km and you will see the Egerton signpost (Gate 1) on your left.
Turn off the N1 at Three Sisters onto the N12 North towards Victoria West.
Proceed to Hopetown, and then follow the directions listed above under the N12 section (from Hopetown).
Drive from Orania towards Hopetown on the R369.
2km out of Orania, take a turn to the right signposted Fluitjieskraalbrug.
After crossing the Orange River, continue straight for a further 27km.
You will find the entrance to Egerton signposted on your left-hand side.
Please call any of our contact numbers listed on the site and we will open the gate remotely for you.
Once through the main gate, there are three more automated gates to go through. They are operated by flicker switches situated on poles as you approach each gate (make sure to toggle both ways!).
The gates are on auto-close. If a gate switch is not working, please check to see if it has been bumped into manual mode by trying to physically slide it open and shut. If that does not work, give us a call or WhatsApp.
There is only one fork on the inner road towards the Lodge. Please keep left at the fork marked “River House”. If you go right in error, you will arrive at our operational farm workshops.
